Improving Reading Skill By Using Reading Aloud Technique At Tenth Grade of MA Tinco

The objective of this researcher is to improve students' reading skills
through reading aloud techniques. The sample of this research is the tenth grade
students of MA Tinco. The sample technique used is cluster sampling consisting of
20 students to learn English using narrative text as a treatment. This research is
quantitative research, which is used as an experimental study design as a research
design. In general, there are many students who can read English but they cannot read
with a good accent. The significant problem they face is that they are still lacking in
proper and correct pronunciation. Researchers used the test as an instrument, namely
a narrative test to encourage students' reading ability in learning English. The results
of the mean score of students before and after treatment, the average score obtained
by students in the post-test(78,82) is greater than the average score of students in the
pre-test(43,52). It is assumed that using the reading aloud technique is very helpful to
improve students' reading ability
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concludes the result of this research shows that reading skill using reading
aloud technique improves the students’ reading skil. It can be seen students tent grade
ips 2 of MA Tinco that the most of students get poor score classification with mean
score of students’ pre-test is 43,52. The students’ reading skill after reading aloud
technique significantly improve, it is showed by the data that most of students get
pain classification with mean score of students’ post-test is 78,82.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that reading aloud technique had been proved to improve
the students’ reading skill especially in narrative text, the researcher would like to
give suggestion as follws:
1. The teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for
teaching reading such us reading aloud technique. Also the education system
needs them to improve the teaching skill according to the up to date
technology. Now days, the internet is widely used by lost of people. There are
many websites that can be accessed to get new technique in teaching. The
equipment also should be sophisticated and functioned perfectly to the
students in class.
2. The teacher could use reading aloud technique as references technique in
teaching reading. Therefore the students were always stimulate the students’
interest and motivate them in learning reading. The teacher should be creative
in applying new technique or methods for students to improve their reading
sklill. The students tenth grade ips 2 of MA Tinco have to improve their
ability in English.
3. The other researcher is suggested that may use the research results as
imformation or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in
the same design to improve the students’ reading skill with different subject.
