This thesis present research about The Impact of Using Smartphone in Daily Activities to Improving Students Vocabulary at SMPN 1 Ajangale. This research used quantitative method approach. The total population of this research was 68 students of eight grade of SMPN 1 Ajangale. This research used random sampling technic to take the sample. The sample of this research was class VII A that consisted of 29 students. This research applied smarphone as a media in teaching vocabulary. In analyzing data the researcher used SPSS.
The result of research shows, first, using smartphone in daily activities give impact to improve students’ vocabulary. The result of data analysis, the mean score of experimental group by using smartphone in pre-test is 37,7727 to 75.0455 in post-test. The value of paired sample test is 0,000< 0,05it means that there is different significant of the result in the students vocabulary in pre-test and post-test. Second, the smartphone’s impact give positive impact to improve students vocabulary. The result of classification score is89.12. It means the score is very high category.
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concludes the result of this research shows that studying vocabulary mastery through smartphone is one media that can enhance the students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be seen of the students of the eight grade of SMPN 1 Ajangale, that the students vocabulary improve by using smartphone. The researcher is proved the data that there are 2 (9.09%) students have average classification. There are 6 (27.27%) students are classified as poor, 14 (63.63%) students are classified as very poor, and no one of them are classified as good and very good with mean score of students’ pre-test is 37.7727. The students vocabulary mastery after applying smartphone is significantly enhance their vocabulary mastery, it is showed by the data 4 (18.18%) students are classified very good, 9 (40.90%) students are classified good, 9 (40.90%) students are classified average, and no one of them are classified as poor and very poor with mean score of students’ post-test is 75.0455.
Based on the result of significant score by using paired sample test shwos that 0.000>0.05 it means that there is different significant of the result in the students vocabulary in pre-test and post-test. The students vocabulary by using smartphone is very high impact. The analysis of questionnaire shows that 46 questions (92%) get very high and 4 questions are getting high category. Based on the smartphone impact of questioner , it is found that the highest score is 99 which is categorized as very high and lowest score is 73 which is categorized as high. Further, analysis shows that the mean score is 89.12 which is as very high category.
B. Suggestions
In view of the fact that descriptive text has been proved to enhance the students’ vocabulary mastery, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher could use smartphone as references media in teaching vocabulary.The teacher could take media in teaching, especially in teaching English vocabulary. Therefore, the students were always stimulate the students’ interest and motivate them in learning vocabulary mastery. Also The teacher should be creative moreover, the education system needs them to improve the teaching skill according to the up to date technology. Now days, the internet is widely used by lots of people. There are many website that can be accessed by using smartphone to get new teaching materials. The equipment also should be sophisticated and functioned perfectly to the students in class.
2. For the other researcher It is suggested that other researcher may use the research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in the same design to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery with different subject.
