Describing The Students' Difficulties In Memorizing Vocabulary At The Eleventh Year Of SMAN 26 Bone

This research presents about “Describing The Students’ Difficulties in
Memorizing Vocabulary at the Eleventh Year of SMAN 26 Bone”. The objective of
the research is to find out the students difficulties in memorizing vocabulary and the
factor cause the difficulties in memorizing vocabulary at eleventh year of SMAN 26
BONE”. It employed a descriptive method that consist of two kinds of instruments,
there were interview that consist of 45 minutes and questionnaires that included 12
items.
The subject of the research was the eleventh year of students of SMAN 26
Bone in academic year 2018-2019 namely XI IPS 2 that consist of 26 students but the
researcher only took ten students as sample in this research.
The result of this research shows that the students difficulties in memorizing
vocabulary are (1) almost some of students have difficulties in pronouncing the word,
(2) how to write and spell, (3) the different grammatical of form in memorizing
vocabulary, (4) the students have also difficulties in choosing in appropriate meaning
of the word, (5) still confuse when they find new vocabulary. There are some factors
that cause students’ difficulties in memorizing vocabulary. (1) some of students feel
lazy, busy, delay to memorize, (2) a vocabulary has many meaning, (3) causes of lack
of understanding of grammatical of the word, (4) difficult to memorize vocabulary on
pronounciation because of that vocabulary have different with the writing and how to
mention into good pronounce.
A. Conclusions
1. Based on the data above, shows that the students difficulties in
memorizing vocabulary are the difficulties in pronouncing the word, how
to spell, how to write, the different grammatical in memorizing
vocabulary, the students have also difficulties in choosing in appropriate
meaning of the word and also still confuse when they find new
vocabulary.
2. There are some factors that the students’ difficult in memorizing
vocabulary are lazy because they are busy and have many task, a
vocabulary has many meaning, difficult to pronounce because of that
vocabulary have different with the writing and how to mention into
correct
B. Suggestions
Considering the conclusion above and result of the questionnaire, the researcher
would like to propose some suggestion, which would be useful for the English
teacher, parents, students and next researcher.
1. The English Teacher
The teacher must give students the task of memorizing at least ten
vocabulary words every day by grouping words that they think are difficult to
say. After that the teacher teaches students the correct pronunciation method
so that students are more accustomed to saying words that are difficult to say.
and also the teacher must create a comfortable learning so that students are
more focused and do not feel bored when memorizing vocabulary.
a. In teaching and learning vocabulary, they need appropriate method and
approach. So English teacher are expected to be able to choose good
method to increase student’s vocabulary mastery.
b. Because of every student has different condition and intelligence.
English teacher should give motivation and opportunity to them and
give explanation that English is easy to learn.
c. The English teacher must be creative, innovative, and communicative
when teaching vocabulary.
2. Parents
a. Parents are the main element of the children education. They are the
first teacher of their children. Because of that reason parents must be
good example for their children in growth mental and spiritual.
b. Parents are responsible for their children education, so parents must
give direction and motivation to their children.
c. Parents should control their children social intercourse, because
society has an important in growth of mental and spiritual besides
family condition.
3. Students
a. Increase your interest in English, because by using English students
can improve their knowledge because many information uses English
to share to the other people.
b. Choose your the best way, technique, or strategy to master and to
advance your English.
c. Ask to your English teacher when you have difficulties in
comprehending English.
4. Next researchers
It is suggested to another researcher(s) to complete this research by
conducting any other research which related with learning style(s
