The use of Envoy Strategy to Improve the Students” Speaking Skill at the Eleventh Grade of Senior High School Athirah Bone

This thesis presents about the use of envoy strategy to improve students’ speaking skill at the Eleventh Grade of Senior School Athirah Bone. The sample is chosen by applying cluster sampling technique and consisted of 23 students. The problem statement is Does the use of envoy strategy to improve students’ speaking skill at the Eleventh Grade of Senior School Athirah Bone? This research used Quantitative method by using pre-experimental design. In collecting data, the researcher got the students’ data by using a test namely speaking test to find out the students’ ability in English speaking. The researcher gaves pretest, treatment and posttest. The mean score obtaining the students by pre-test is (45.86) and post-test is (70.65), and the students’ in the use envoy strategy can improve speaking skill of students. The result of this research indicates that can enhance students’ speaking skill, it is proved by the value of the Sig. (2-tailed) is lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). It means that the students have high interesting in this method.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of analysis in the preceding chapter, the researcher
concludes that studying speaking by using envoy strategy help the students of SMA
Athirah Bone at the eleventh grade. It is proved by the result of paired sample t test of
pre test and post test after doing treatment. It means that score o4 the result of the
student’s pre test was 45,86 and post test was 70,65. Based on data of the Sig.(2
tailed) is lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Envoy strategy can improve the students’
speaking ability.
B. Suggestion
In learning English language espeacially speaking learning, there should have
some techniques or methods is good that teacher can apply in the classroom. One of
them is using envoy strategy.
In view of fact that the use envoy strategy to speaking skill, the
researcher would ilke to give suggestion as follows :
1. The Teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for
Teaching English such us the use of envoy strategy.
2. The Teacher should give aware to the students that speaking is one of skill
that important in English language.
3. The Teacher should be pay much attention to the students’ weaknesses in
studying English in order to students felt to be motivate.
