Building up the Students’ Enthusiasm in Learning English through Poem as an Instructional Media at the Fourth Semester of IAIN Bone

This thesis presents about “Building up the Students‟ Enthusiasm in Learning English through Poem as an Instructional Media at the Fourth Semester of IAIN Bone”. There are 7 students of TBI4 at the fourth semester in IAIN Bone in my research. This research uses qualitative method. The researcher uses a poem as an instructional media to build up the students‟ enthusiasm in learning English.
This thesis aims to how are the students enthusiastic in learning English through poem that use questionnaire and interview as an instrument of the research. The researcher will optimize a poem to build up the students‟ enthusiasm, minimize difficulties and improve the students‟ vocabulary.
The results of the research are the teacher could use poem as references material in teaching vocabulary. The teacher could take material in teaching, especially in teaching English vocabulary. To build up the students‟ enthusiasm, poem still couldn‟t be fully used as a medium of learning because it has a sufficient level of difficulty for students.
A. Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the researcher concludes the result of this research shows that poem has not been fully able to build up the students‟ enthusiasm in learning English. Six (6) of seven (7) students said that poem has a high degree of difficulty as a medium of learning. The rest says poem can be fun as a medium of learning if the delivery of the material is delivered with fitting and interesting so that students are not monotonous and bored in learning. This fact shows that educators should be more creative if they want to make poem as a medium in learning English in order to avoid boredom and not decrease student enthusiasm in learning. The important points that can be obtained from this research that poem is the right media to add the students‟ vocabulary.
B. Suggestions
Based on the existing fact that poem has not been able to be use as an instructional meida to building up the students‟ enthusiasm therefore, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as follows:
1. The teacher could use poem as references material in teaching vocabulary. The teacher could take material in teaching, especially in teaching English
vocabulary. To build up the students‟enthusiasm, poem has not been fully used as a medium of learning because it has a sufficient level of difficulty for students. In the other hand we have to know that the teacher should be creative moreove if they want to use a poem as an instructional media in learning English so the students will not get bored and will prefer lessons and more passion.
2. The students of the fourth semester of English Study Program of IAIN BONE must have the diversity of learning media to support their success in learning English.
3. For the other researcher, It is suggested that other researcher may use the research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with the similar topic in the same design to build up the students‟ enthusiasm through poem as an instructional media in learning english.
