Enhancing The Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Through Descriptive Text at The First Semester of English Studty Program at IAIN BONE in Academic Year 2017/2018

This research is conducted about Enhancing the Students’ Vocabulary
Mastery Through Descriptive Text at the First Semester of English Study Program at
IAIN BONE in Academic Year of 2017/2018. The purpose of this research is does
descriptive text enhance the students vocabulary mastery.
In conducting this research the researcher used an experimental design to
gather the data, while a quantitative method was used to analyze them or which is
study to know whether there was improvement or not to the subjek, that was given
treatment. This research was taken by the first semester of English Study Program at
IAIN BONE.
The result of the analysis showed that descriptive text very useful to enhance
the students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be shown by the diffrences of the mean score
obtained by the students in the post-test (67,84) is greater than the mean score of the
students in pre-test (56,00). The researcher inferred that the students’ vocabulary
mastery enhance through descriptive text.
A.Conclusions
Based on the data analysis and discussion in the previous chapter, the
researcher concluded the result of this research showed that studying vocabulary
mastery through descrptive text is one material that can enhance the students’
vocabulary mastery. It can be seen of the students of the first semester of English
Study Program at IAIN BONE that they have prior mastery of vocabulary before
applying descriptive text is high. The researcher prove the data that the most of
students get good and only one student is very poor score classidication with mean
score of students’ pre-test is (55,48). The students vocabulary mastery after apying
descriptive text is significantly enhance their vocabulary mastery, it is showed by the
data that most of students get fairly good score with mean score of students’ post-test
is (67,72).
B.Suggestions
In view of the fact that descriptive text has been proved to enhance the
students’ vocabulary mastery, the reseacher would like to give suggestions as
follows:
1. The teacher could use descriptive text as references material in teaching
vocabulary.The teacher could take material in teaching, especially in
teaching English vocabulary. Therefore, the students were always stimulate
the students’ interest and motivate them in learning vocabulary mastery.
Also The teacher should be creative moreover, the education system needs
them to improve the teaching skill according to the up to date technology.
Now days, the internet is widely used by lots of people. There are many
website that can be accessed to get new teaching materials. The equipment
also should be sophisticated and functioned perfectly to the students in
class.
2. The students of the first semester of English Study Program of IAIN BONE
have to enhance their ability in English, especially vocabulary mstery.
3. For the other researcher, It is suggested that other researcher may use the
research results as information or a reference to conduct the research with
the similar topic in the same design to improve the students’ vocabulary
mastery with different subject.
