The Students Perception Analysis Of The Educational Value In “Lean On Me Movie” At English Study Program Of STAIN Watampone

This study aims to classify and describe the value of education in the movie “Lean On Me” based on the perception of five semester students in STAIN Watampone after watching the film. This research uses qualitative research type. In collecting data, this study used interviews and documentation. In analyzing the data, this research uses several techniques namely, (1) data reduction, (2) data display, (3) conclusion. Subjects in this study are five semester students of English Study Program at STAIN Watampone consisting of 5 students selected by random. The object of this study is the value of education based on the movie “Lean On Me”.
The results of this study are the found eighteen of educational values in the film “Lean On Me” based on students' perceptions such as Religion, Honesty, Tolerance, Discipline, Hard Work, Creativity, Independent, Democracy, Curiosity, Citizenship, Patriotism, Honorable Achievement, Friendship, Peace, Reading Habits, Environmental Care, Care and Responsibility are based on student explanations that there are some perceptions unrelated to the description of educational value.
It means the character of the value of education understood by students.
Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that from this study teachers can choose appropriate movie as they teach and so students pay attention when the students watch the movie to know the contents of the film containing educational value.
A.Conclusion
Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the data in the previous chapter, the researcher concludes that the five semester students of the STAIN Watampone English study program are motivated and increase their knowledge in improving their moral and social life as well as obtaining strong educational values while watching the film. Most of the students are interested in watching the film and do not feel bored throughout watching it. The learning process by using the film media makes them entertained, not bored and not monotonous for students. Film media increasing students' knowledge. They can practice their hearing and concentration in learning. They know about the values of the three aspects they get from the film, namely social, moral and educational aspects. They understand the important lessons embodied in the film. They actively express their feelings and acknowledge what they get from watching the movie "Lean On Me". Learning by using film media makes students enjoy and helps them understand lessons and movies can also help students to motivate them in learning.
B.Sugestion
Based on the above conclusions the researcher gives some suggestions as follows:
1. Teachers or lecturers can exploit the positive effects of film media that provide many advantages in motivating students to be more active learning and improving themselves.
2. Students can use film media in learning English to know more and make it more
interesting.
3. Students can capture the content of the messages contained in the film.
