The Use of Treasure Clue As An Instructional Design and Material in Teaching Conversational English at SMAN 14 Bone

This script presents research about the use of treasure clue as an instructional
design and material in teaching conversational English at SMAN 14 Bone. In speaking a
conversation, the students always find the problems like they will not talk in class
because they are too shy or unconfident. Speaking is used for many different purposes,
when we use casual conversation. Conversation practice was provided in such a way that
students A and B were fully aware of what each would say before the dialogue began.
The objective of this research is to know the students’ conversational English by using
treasure clue as an instructional design and materialin teaching process at SMAN 14
Bone. This research is qualitative method. The researcher tought the students in X MIPA
2 for three meetings by using treasure clue method during teaching the researher
observated the students’ conversational English. The students are very interest this
method and they become bravely and confident to speak conversation in front off class
and friends. It means that using treasure clue as an instructional design and material in
teaching conversational English is a good method in learning English.
A. Conclusions
Based on the result of data description in the previous chapter, the researcher
concludes that The students’ conversational English by using treasure clue as an
instructional design and material in teaching process. It was proved by the result of
observation, interview and documentation as support. The result of observation shows
that the students are very enthusiastic to join the games with using treasure clue
games method in conversational English. Students are able to complete all challenges
prepared in each post with cohesiveness with group friends. the students are also very
competent in collecting pieces of the conversation. By the result of observation, the
researcher found that 65, 7% students can understand the instruction, 60% students be
able to solve the problems in every activity, 62, 85% students work together in
solving problem, 82.35% students are ethuistics in following the game, and 77,15%
students are able to finish the conversation well.The students get bravery and
confident to do conversation in front of their friends. The students prove and admit it
in interview that conducted by researcher.Based on the description above, it is
implied that students’ conversational English by using treasure clue as an
instructional design and material in teaching process can be classified that is very
good as a new method in learnig English.
B. Suggestion
The researcher gives suggestion to all readers and especially for teacher and
students that:
1. For the improvement of the teaching English, the researcher suggests to the
English teacher especially speaking in conversational English should give the
good method in teaching English based on te students’ actively like using
treasure clue method in teaching conversational English as an instuctional design
and material.
2. The students should be brave and confident to speak in front of their friends and
always practice to be well in speaking ability especially in conversational
English.
