The Use of What Word Game to Improve The Students’ Vocabulary at SMPN 6 Watampone

This Aim of this research is to find out whether interactive method by applying
what word game can improve vocabulary of the eigth grade students of SMPN 6
Watampone. The problem on this research is does the use what word game improve
the students’ vocabulary for Eight grade Students of SMPN 6 Watampone. The
sample consisted of 30 students and consisted of one classes from Eight A at SMPN 6
Watampone. The researcher gives the students pre test before treatment and post test
after treatment, while the data obtained through test were analyzed with mean score.
Finally the researcher conclude, the mean score for the students in the post test 76 and
was greater the pre test 51,16 and this proved that the vocabulary of students improve
after treatment. It was supported by t-test value was greater (5,061) than the table
value (2.045). After the students used what word game, students’ vocabulary improve
significantly.
A. Conclusion
Based on the research findings and discussion in the previous chapter, the study
has arrived at the following conclusions:
The teaching learning process by using what word game gives the positive effect
in improving the students' in learning vocabulary. This is shown by the students
enthusiasm in doing what word game and most of the students more understand what
the teacher said. Moreover, the students achievement o vocabulary has improve
through what word game in teaching learning process. When it compared between pre
test and post test is greater then pre test. They know that the students score in post test
is greater then pre test. Furthermore, the result showed that the mean score for the
students in the post test (76) and was greater the pre test (51,16) and this proved that
the vocabulary of students improve after treatment. After the students using what
word game, students’ vocabulary improved significantly. It was supported by t-test
value was greater (5,061) than the table value (2.045).
It can be concluded that the students got good achievement in mastering
vocabulary after taught by using what word game. The students vocabulary mastery
improve and significantly better than before taught, so teaching vocabulary by using
what word game improve students’ vocabulary at the eight grade of SMPN 6
Watampone.
B. Suggestion
From the result of the researcher in the eight grade of SMPN 6 Watampone, in
order to build the English teaching learning process more effective and more optimal
for the students, the researcher would like to suggest:
1. In applying what word game, the researcher needs to a better preparation
before. Moreover, the teacher should to determine and choose the topic which
can be implemented in what word game.
2. The researcher should apply the approriate method in teaching learning
process. The most important in choosing the method is should make students
get new experience, new concept, and better skill. So, they can solve their
problem in teaching learning process.
3. For the students, they should be active in the classroom because in play what
word game the students are supported to be maintenance in teaching learning
process. It is hoped that the students can improve their vocabulary.
4. This research need a further research to get a better result and improvement
in implementation to the following research in other school, due to this
research is in the eight grade students of SMPN 6 Watampone in academic
year of 2017/2018.
