THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE USE FUNNY STORIES IN VOCABULARY LEARNING AT THE FOURTH SEMESTERENGLISH STUDY PROGRAMOF TARBIYAH DEPARTMENTIN STAINWATAMPONE

The problem in this research is the low of mastery of the English vocabulary of the students at the fourth semesterEnglish Study Programof Tarbiyah Departmentin STAIN Watampone. The purpose of this research was described the effectiveness of used funny stories (stand-up comendy videos) invocabulary learning and described the students’ motivation in vocabulary learning by using funny stories (stand-up comedy videos). This type of research was quantitative method because the researcher conducted the data in form of numbers.The way in collecting data by using pre-experimental research method with one-shot case study used to be applied to know the effectiveness of the treatment gave. The technique of data collection was done with test and questioner. Data analysis technique that consists of data reduction, calculating the student’s correct answer of the test, describe the data and make conclusions based on the description of the data.
After the data were collected and the result of the test was obtained to prove the hypothesis and to establish the validity, the researcher analyzed the value of t-observation by using IBM SPSS Statistic 21 program. It was proved by the result of students’ test. The table shows that the mean score of the students in second and third videos(59.80>58.40). It means that H0 is rejected and H1is acceptable.
The data score of students’ motivation which were taken using questionnaire show that 4 students (20%) chose very high category while 10 students (50%) chose high category and 6 students (30%) . It means that the students have high motivation in this technique.
A.Conclusion
Based on the result of analysis in thye previous chapter, the researcher concluded that:
1.Using Funny Stories (Stand Up Comedy Videos) in teaching English vocabulary increase the students’ vocabulary achievement. It was proved by the data of students’ score in during treatment after doing Using Funny Stories (Stand Up Comedy Videos) . The table of both score showed that students’ mean score in the first video (64.65) was higher than the mean score of the students in second and thrid videos(58.40>59.80). The students vocabulary achievement increased after doing some treatments by Using Funny Stories (Stand Up Comedy Videos). So, It concluded that the use of Using Funny Stories (Stand Up Comedy Video) was effective to increase students’ vocabulary achievement to the students of the fourth semester of English Study Program of Tarbiyah Department STAIN Watampone.
2.The English teacher should apply Using Funny Stories (Stand Up Comedy Video) as one of the effective ways to stimulate the students’ ability in extending their vocabulary achievement is very motivation to group three of the fourth semester english study programof tarbiyah department.
3.STAIN Watampone. It is showed by the table that most of the students got high mean score in questionnaire 73,35% is high motivation.
B.Implications
In view of fact that the use of in view of fact that the use of using funny stories (Stand Up Comedy videos) in teaching English vocabulary as media of teaching has been proved being more effective in increasing students’ vocabulary achievement and the students’ motivation in learning English vocabulary, the researcher would like to give suggestion as follow:
1.The teacher should be creative to manage the material and the classroom for teaching English vocabulary such us using varios media like using funny stories (Stand Up Comedy videos).
2.The English teacher can make it as a recommendation to apply funny stories (Stand Up Comedy videos) as one of the effective ways to stimulate the students’ ability in extending their vocabulary achievement.
