Improving Student’s Vocabulary by Making Haiku Materials at New English Course

The objective of this research is to know the improvement of students
vocabulary mastery by using haiku materials at New English Course (NEC). The
problem statement of this research is Does the use of haiku materials improve
students vocabulary
This research uses quantitative method with pre-experimental design. The
population of this research was the second grade of new English course, selected
by using cluster sampling. The researcher conducted pre-test, treatment and post-
test. The sample of this research was 7 students.
The result of the data calculated that the mean score made by students in
the post-test is 84.57 greater than the mean score of students in pre-test 50.29, it
can be proved by the result of the data analysis after being compared to the t-table,
the results indicate that the use of haiku materials have significant difference
between the result of the students pre-test and post-test.

During several past days the researcher determines that conducting haiku
materials increases students’ vocabulary

materials advance drastically, it can be seen by the data that most of them are
