The Effectiveness of Using Guided Dialogue Activity toward the Student’s Achievement in Speaking to the Students of Bidik Misi Scholarship at STAIN Watampone

This thesis presents research about The Use of Using Guided Dialogue
Activity to Improve Students’ Achievement in Speaking On the students of BidikMisi
Scholarship at STAIN Watampone.
There are two variables in this research. The dependent variable is
Students’ English speaking achievement. The independent variable is Use Guided
Dialogue Activity.
This research used quantitative method. The sample consisted of 24
studentsandconsisted of one classes from third semester of the students of Bidik Misi
Scholarship at STAIN Watampone.The researcher gave pretest, treatments, and
posttest, while the data obtained through test were analyzed with mean score.
Theresearch was given pretest, the treatment, and posttest by using Guided Dialogue
Activity.
The result of the study shown that there was a significant improvement of
the students’ achievement after the treatment by using Guided Dialogue Activity.
Then, the students of Bidik Misi that given treatment by using Guided Dialogue
Activity, then, that given posttest and pre-test by speaking about culture of Bone got
higher achievement.
From the data could be concluded that teaching speaking by using Guided
Dialogue Activitycould improve the students’ achievement speaking, and improve
students’ motivation in studying speaking of the students of Bidik Misi Scholarship at
STAIN Watampone.
A. Conclusion
Based on the result of data analysis, the researcher could take conclusion
as follow:
1. Using Guided Dialogue Activity in teaching English speaking increased the
students’ speaking achievement. It was proved by the data of students’ score
in during treatment after doing Using Guided Dialogue Activity. The
student’s score of speaking skill before being taught by Guided Dialogue
Activity was low because the mean of the total score of students speaking was
only (59.79). The student’s score of speaking skill after being taught by
Guided Dialogue Activity is low because the mean of the total score of
students speaking is only (77.08). Based on the data analysis, the researcher
knows that t-count bigger that t-table (17.852 > 2.690). it means that the
alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was
rejected. Thus, the findings mean that taught by Guided Dialogue activity
given significant effect on the students’ speaking achievement was effective
to improve students’ speaking achievement. Using Guided Dialogue Activity
in teaching speaking is an alternative to make the students more enthusiasm,
interested and make the students to be active in teaching. So, It concluded that
the use of Using Guided Dialogue Activity was effective to increase students’
speaking achievement to the students of Bidik Misi Scholarship at STAIN
Watampone.
2. The Using of Guided Dialogue Activity as one of the effective ways to
stimulate the students’ motivation in extending their speaking achievement is
very interesting to the students of Bidik misi Scholarship at STAIN
Watampone. It is showed by the table that most of the students got high mean
score in questionnaire 73,35% is high interesting.
B. Suggestion
The finding of the research score shows that there is significant
difference on the students’ score before they were taught by Guided Dialogue
Activity and after they were taught by Guided Dialogue Activity. Therefore,
the writer tries to give some suggestion as follow:
1. Suggestion for the students
The students should be active in the classroom because in Guided
Dialogue Activity the students are supported to be active in teaching
learning process. It is hoped that the students can increase their speaking
ability.
2. Suggestion for the teacher
The teacher is supposed to stimulate and motivate students’ in
speaking English while doing Guided Dialogue activity because the
students usually feel difficult to speak English in doing Guided Dialogue
activity.
3. Suggestion for the next researcher
As this research is not perfect yet, it is suggested for the next
researcher to conduct further researchers on the similar area, especially by
Guided Dialogue Activity on teaching speaking. This study is very
important because it will give some knowledge to the researcher and to
know the benefits of Guided Dialogue Activity in teaching speaking.
