Correlation between students’ Motivation and Students’ Achievement in Learning English at MTs GUPPI Seberang

The objective of the research is to find out whether correlation between
motivation and stdents’ achievement. The researcher employed the statistic
correlation analysis by using SPSS aplication. The population of the research was the
students of MTs GUPI Seberang. The samples of the research consisted of 59
samples and the researcher used quantitative research or used total sampling. The
instruments of this research was taken by English test and questioner.
Based on the result of simple regression coefficient, it has answered
hypothesis. This result showed that Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. It was
showed by the value the result of data analysis above shows that the value t > table
(2,385 > 2,021), so H1 is accepted, it means that motivation has correlation with the
students’ achievement at MTs GUPPI Seberang. So there is a correlation between
students’ motivation and students’ achievement in learning english at MTs GUPPI
Seberang.
A. Conclusion
Based on the related the result of questioner and the english test, it can be
known there is a correlation between motivation and students’ achievement in
learning English at MTs GUPPI Seberang. Based on the result of simple
regression coefficient, it has answered hypothesis. This result showed that Ho was
rejected and H1 is accepted. It is showed by the value the result of data analysis
above shows that the value t > table (2,385 > 2,021), so H1 is accepted, it means
that motivation has correlation with the students’ achievement.
B. Suggestion
The research outcome shows that there is a positif correlation between
students’ learning motivation and students’ learning achievement in English.
Therefore, the teacher should give more encouragement to the student beside
giving or transferring knowledge. Theacer should be more creative in giving a
lesson and use various teaching method, in order students can be more
comfortable and more interested in learning english.
Teacher should be stimulate motivation in learning and shoul let the
student like learning and find academic activities satisfied, therefore they can be
more active and better progress in learning English.
