The Correlation Between The Students’ Pronunciation and The Reading Ability at SMPN 2 Cina

This thesis aims at finding out the correlation between the students’
pronunciation and the reading ability at SMPN 2 cina.
The method was used in this research is quantitative. The researcher employed
the correlation method by using product moment bySPSS aplication. The population
of this research Was the second grade students of SMPN 2 Cina. The samples of this
research consisted of 24 samples and the researcher used cluster sampling. The
instruments of this research was taken by pronunciation test, and reading test. The
result of the research indicatewere significant. It was proved by the value of the t-test
(11.405) was greater that the t-table (2.690).
Base on finding and discussion of this research, the researcher drew a
conclusion that pronunciation effect reading ability at SMPN 2 Cina.
A. Conclusion
Based onj the findings and the data anlyzing in previus chapter, the resercher
draws conclusion that students pronunciation and reading ability have correlation. It
can be seen in the t table value (11.405 > 2.690), the significance value of
pronunciation (x) 15 0,000 < 0,5. It means that there is significance correlation between the
student’s pronunciation and the students’s reading ability. It also indicates that pronunciation
influences reading. The correlation between the students pronunciation and reading ability is
high.
B. Suggestion
There are some suggestions to provide constructive suggestions to students,
teachers and researchers in order to be able to develop further research.
c. For students
Sudents should practice more and learn about pronunciation to make it easier
for them to say a word, sentence and to practice their reading skills. Because it is so
important for them to be able to speak a word or phrase like a native speaker.
b. For teacher
Teachers as an important role for students can help students to encourage their
motivation to learn, so that the students can achieve the goals of learning sutau and
control students’ level of ability in understanding about pronunciation and reading
ability. So, as to measure the results of their own understanding.
c. For researcher
The results of this study can be used by other researchers as information or
reference to determine the correlation between the students pronunciation and the
reading ability
