Improving Students' Reading Comperhension By Using Subttittle Movie At The Eleventh Of SMA 15 Bone

The problem in this research is the low level of comprehension of the
English reading at the eleventh grade of SMAN 15 BONE. The purpose of this study
is to use subtitle English movie to improve students reading comprehension.The
technique of data collection is done with pre-test, treatment,and post-test. Data
analysis techniques used in this research is quantitative. This research has two kinds
variable. The dependent variable the students’ reading comprehension. The
independent variable was using subtitle English teaching reading of the eleventh
grade students of SMAN 15 BONE.
The sample of the research consisted of 20 samples and the researcher used
students in exact class. The instruments of this research was taken by reading test.The
result of the research indicated that subtitle English movie can enchance students’
reading comprehension. It was proved by the value of the t-test (4,0003) was greater
that the t-table (2,093), it means that the students reading comprehension improve
significantly. Based on finding and discussion of this research, the researcher drew a
conclussion that through subtitle English movie at first years of SMAN 15 BONE.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and the data analyzing in the preceding chapter, subtittle
English movie helps the students SMAN 15 BONE especially XI IPA 2 to improve
their reading comprehension . Based on the data of mean score which have been
explained in the chapter 3, the mean score of pre-test is 21,25 and the mean score of
post-test is 22,5. It means that the score of the students after getting treatment. the
standard deviation of the students pretest is lower than the result of the students
posttest. It means that the value has positively increased.
B. Implication
Learning language generally and english specifically, there should have some
techniques that the teacher can apply in classroom teaching. Especially for reading
comprehension, most of the students can read well but it does not mean that they can
catch the point of the text better. So, the teacher should understand the students need.
Therefore, they can apply a good technique/media in their class. Subtitle English
Movie can help the students to improve their reading comprehension.
The teachers should know the students reading style. Each student has
different style of reading. Sometimes, they are easy reading a text loudly and the
other students read it silently. Sometimes, they are pleasant reading in group and the
other students are pleasant alone. All of the style influence the students reading
comprehension.
The teachers should always add their knowledge whether they surf the
internet, read book, autodidact and more. The up to date information can help the
teachers to improve their english generally and reading comprehension.
