This thesis presented the research about extent The Implementation of
Extensive Reading to Improve Students’ Vocabulary at The Ninth Year of SMPN 5
Watampone. The problem statement of this thesis is: (1) Does the implementation of
extensive reading improve students’ vocabulary at the ninth year of SMPN 5
Watampone?The result of data analysis by using SPSS shows that the mean score
obtained by the students in the post-test (31.90) is greater than the mean score of the
students in pre-test (24.46). it also can be by the sig.(2-tailed) is 0,000
A. Conclusions
After calculating and analyzing the result of Extensive Reading research in
theprevious chapter, it can be concluded that:
1. Extensive Reading is suitable to be applied to the students of the ninth
year of SMPN 5 Watampone. Based on the data of mean score which
have been explained in the chapter 3, the mean score of the pre-test is
24.46 and the mean score of the post-test is 31.90. It means that the score
of the students after getting treatment 7.44. The standard deviation of the
students’ pre-test is lower than the result of the students’ post-test. It
means that the value has positively increased.
B. Suggestions
Based on the conclusion given before, some suggestions can be submitted as
follows:
1. Learning language generally and English specifically, there should have
some approaches that the teacher can apply in classroom teaching.
Especially for vocabulary, most of the students can read well but it does not
mean that they can catch the point of the text better. So, the teacher should
understand the students need. Therefore, they can apply a good approach in
their class. Extensive Reading can help the students to improve their
vocabulary.
2. The teacher should be creative; moreover, the education system needs them
to improve the teaching skill according to the up to date technology. Now
days, the internet is widely used by lots of people. There are many website
that can be accessed to get new teaching materials. The equipment also
should be sophisticated and functioned perfectly to the students in class.
